You’re looking at the wrong side of your cooking oil bottle

100% Pure. Natural. Light. Cholesterol-free.

You’ve probably seen these words hundreds of times while buying cooking oil.

But here’s something worth remembering: The next time you’re buying cooking oil, spend 20 seconds looking at the other side of the bottle.

Here’s what to check.

1. “100% Pure” – Don’t Stop There

Seeing “100% Pure” on the front may sound reassuring.

But ask the next question:Pure what?

Turn the bottle around and read the ingredient list.

Does it clearly tell you whether you’re buying mustard oil, soybean oil, sunflower oil or a blend?

If the front makes big promises but the back doesn’t clearly tell you what’s inside, look for a brand that gives you clearer information.

2. “Cholesterol Free” – Sounds Special, But Is It?

Here’s something many people don’t know:

Plant-based cooking oils naturally do not contain cholesterol.

So “0% cholesterol” printed prominently on a vegetable oil bottle may be true—but it doesn’t necessarily make that oil special.

Don’t let one attractive claim make the decision for you.

Compare the actual nutrition panels instead.

3. “Light” Doesn’t Automatically Mean Fewer Calories

This is another easy assumption to make.

“Light” sounds like less fat or fewer calories.

But cooking oils are broadly similar in calorie density.

So before picking up the bottle simply because it says “light”, check what the claim actually refers to and read the nutrition information.

4. “Natural” Ask for More Information

“Natural” is another word that sounds good on a food packet.

But it doesn’t tell you everything about how an oil was produced.

If processing matters to you, look for specific information rather than relying only on broad words such as “natural” or “traditional”.

The clearer the information, the easier it is to make an informed choice.

When Should You Consider Another Brand?

Here’s the easiest rule.If you pick up a bottle and:

the ingredients aren’t clear,
important label information is difficult to find
or the pack gives you big promises but very little useful information…put it back.

There are enough choices available today that you shouldn’t have to guess what you’re feeding your family.

Try the 20-Second Bottle Test

Next time you’re buying cooking oil, give the back of the bottle 20 seconds before you give the brand your money.

Ingredients.Nutrition.Dates.FSSAI and batch information.That’s all.

Because a trustworthy food brand shouldn’t only tell you why you should buy its product.

It should make it easy for you to understand what you’re buying.

At Ajanta, we believe informed choices begin with clear information. So whichever cooking oil you choose, turn the bottle around, read the label and know what you’re bringing home.
